  7 Days Cultural & Roots Tour to Senegal & Gambia

Day 1: - DAKAR AIRPORT L. S. S.
Airport arrival assistance and transfer to your hotel in down town. Check into your room before orientation meeting.

Day 2: - DAKAR CITY TOUR
After breakfast, full day city tour of Dakar. You will pass the colorful markets of Sandaga, Tileneand Kermel; the Great Mosque, Independence Square and the shopping centers on Pompidou Avenue, the Presidential Palace, the IFAN Museum, where a fine collection of East African masks is housed, the Cathedral and end up at the handcraft village of Soumbedioune. Return to your hotel by way of Corniche after visiting the sand painting gallery. B.L.

Day 3: - DAKAR GOREE Island
After breakfast, embark the ferryboat for your discovery tour to Goree Island.  You will view the colonial buildings, the historical slave house where its curator will narrate the past.  You will return to your hotel after enjoying your delicious buffet lunch. 

Day 4: - DAKAR / THE GAMBIA 
Early in the morning embark your air-conditioned bus for 6-hours road/ferry journey to Banjul, The Gambia. Check into your beautiful Atlantic Beach Hotel late in the afternoon.  Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner before bed. B.B. 

Day 5: - THE GAMBIA
After breakfast, begin a full day tour of the City of Banjul and its environs.  Do not miss the tie-dye factory and the S.O.S. School.  Buffet dinner. B.D

Day 6: - Banjul / DAKAR
On this day you are returning to Senegal.  You will visit Juffureh Village, the birth place  of Kunta Kinteh of the famous Alex Haley’s «Roots».  Overnight in your hotel in Dakar. B. L.

Day 7: - DAKAR / AIRPORT
Day at leisure. Tonight, you are traditionally dressed in your elegant African clothes ready for farewell dinner accompanied by folkloric performance in a local restaurant.  Late night transfer to airport for your return flight. B.D.

07 DAYS CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE TO SENEGAL

Day 1  - DAKAR ARRIVAL
Arrival, assistance and transfer to your Hotel.  Go through formalities and check into your rooms. 

Day 2  -  DAKAR CITY TOUR
Morning orientation after breakfast. If you arrived on Saturday, today there is a church service and city tour of Dakar.    B.L.

Day 3  -  PINK LAKE / BADIAN FOREST
Morning tour to the countryside for an insight of Fulani and Serere villages.  You will wind up this tour with an excursion to the forest of Bandia Game Reserve.  B.L.

Day 4  -  DAKAR GOREE ISLAND
Full day tour to Goree Island the famous slave depot where some 20 millions of the best and finest of African ancestors embarked on pest-infested ships for unknown lands.  Buffet lunch before returning to Dakar. Hotel. B.L. 

Day 5  -  CATHOLIC AND CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS
Special tour to some Catholic and Christian schools and institutions.  Notice how Western and African traditions have been efficiently interwoven to sustain these institutions to propagate the Catholic faith in this predominantly Moslem populated country.  B. 

Day 6  -  DAKAR FAREWELL DINNER
Today will be a day of leisure and so you will have the opportunity to take care of  your personal affairs such as meeting tailors and shopping.  Evening farewell dinner. 

Day 7  -   DEPART
Departure transfer to airport for your return flight.

Below are some of the day tours available from Dakar...

1. DAKAR CITY TOUR (HALF DAY)Departure after breakfast, visits the administrative area, such as the Independence Square, the Commerce Chamber, the Presidential Palace, the National Parliament, the Cathedral and great Mosque etc... Stop at the colorful Market kermel and Soumbedioume, visit the University and the new millenium gate.

2. DISCOVERY OF GOREE ISLAND (FULL DAY)After a 30mm ferry drive, guided tour at slave house and IFAN historical Museum and also the Goree / Almadies Memorial. After lunch take walk through the narrow streets of Goree before turning back to Dakar.

3. PINK LAKE (FULL DAY)Departure at 09h00 AM pass through the big vegetables market called Ndiombene Taye. Continuation through the Niayes Garden bet to Niaga village. Four wheels drive buggy tour around the pinkish Lake. Visit nomadic villages and contact with different ethnic groups. After your local lunch, turn back to your Hotel. 

 4. SALOUM Island (FULL DAY)Early morning departure, through Mbour, Thiadiaye, Ndiosmone, Fumela and Ndangane. Discover by boat the birds Islands. After lunch relax around the pool. Return back to Dakar via an original Palm threes Forest. Stop on the way to visit the greatest Baobab three of the region. Stop at Jaol village to assist to the fishermen return back.

 5. WEEK END IN SALY VIA THE PINK LAKEDeparture at 09h00 AM pass through the big vegetables market called Ndiombene Taye. Continuation through the Niayes Garden bet to Niaga village. Four wheels drive buggy tour around the pinkish Lake. Visit nomadic villages and contact with different ethnic groups. After your local lunch, turn back to your Hotel. After lunch drive further South via Nguekhoh (Visit the Baobabs forest) to Saly resort accommodation in Half board. Relax around the pool or the white Sandy beach.

6. 02 DAYS ROUND TRIP IN SALY AND THE SALOUM ISLANDS Early morning departure via Mbour, Thiadiaye, Fumela and Ndangane. Discover by boat the Birds Island. After lunch, relax around the pool before driving further to Saly resort. Accommodation on half board. 

7. 02 DAYS ROUND TRIP TO St LOUIS (NATIONAL PARKS)

Day 1: Departure to St Louis, via Thies, Kebemer. Louga. Arrive St Louis around noon, accommodation on full board. PM city tour on Horse driven Cars. 

Day 2: Early morning departure to Langue de Barbarie National Birds Park. Excursion by Boat on the Senegal river, possibility to watch different species of birds such as king fisher, Pelicans, Flamingos, Herons etc...After lunch relax at the white sandy beach before your return back to Dakar.

 8. JOAL / FADIOUTH VILLAGE EXCURSION (FULL DAY)

Early morning departure via Rufisque, Diamniadio, the Bandia Baobabs Forest, and Mbour to Joal (Birthplace of former President Léopold Sedar Senghor). Visit the seashell cemetery, the millet Storage's, the Fadiouth Church. After lunch return back to Dakar.  

 9. HANN / YARAKH TRADITIONAL VILLAGES DSICOVERY (HALF DAY)

Assist to turn back of the fishermen with their colorful boat full of their daily catch. Possibility to watch different species of the Atlantic Ocean and take good time by discussion with local people.
